Benefit from a bespoke plan of action
One size does not fit all. You are one-of-a-kind and you are in a unique place in your own street photography story. A bespoke programme will meet your individual goals, by looking at where you are at, where you want to be and how to get you there using assessments teaching, assignments, and much cheerleading!

Have a mentor + accountability partner
You know what it's like when there's no-one to answer to... things get put off, there's no-one to challenge you, and you embrace procrastination like a hot water bottle on a cold day. That all ends with a mentor who is there to support, guide, and advise you, as well as share their knowledge and gently boss you about a bit.
π
Fast track your street photography skills
There is no substitute for 1-2-1 attention if you are committed to accelerating your personal growth, and street photography is no exception! You will develop your creative, compositional and story-telling skills, and learn new ways of thinking about the street so you can find your street photography groove!
HOW IT WORKS
01
Cooking up a plan
Our first session is an in-depth assessment of where you are on your street photography journey, where you want to be, and how we can get you there by working together. This includes a portfolio review, digging into what you're good at, what you're not so good at, your mindset, and taking a peek at some of your street photography heroes to get an idea of the sort of work that inspires you, and that you aspire to. You also receive your very first assignment!
[2 hour sessions via Zoom x 1]
02
Getting busy with the programme
We get together once each calendar month for the duration of the programme for in-depth critique and feedback, along with tackling any challenges or obstacles, and discussing how to overcome them. During the programme I also introduce you to ways of thinking about and approaching making street photography, as well as discuss content and composition with you. You receive regular assignments each designed to build on the previous one.
[1.5 hour sessions via Zoom x 5]
03
Completing the mission
After your programme is completed, we meet up again 3 months after the end of the 6-month programme and have a chat about your progress, take a look at your new work and talk about next steps.
[1 hour via Zoom x 1]
Some examples of what we can cover

Β
WHERE
We will hang out via the magic of Zoom in the comfort of our own homes (or exotic beaches) whilst wearing pyjamas (or kaftans)! You'll just need a laptop or a computer and have a good internet connection. Make sure to have to most recent version of Zoom installed.
WHEN
Once every calendar month (at any mutually convenient time and day, except for Sundays, which is when I stare at Netflix). You will also have access to me via email or Instagram DMs in between meetings for any burning questions or support.
WHY
You will become a better street photographer faster with a mentor working with you. I'll boss you around gently, keep you motivated, inspired, and accountable, as well as share my knowledge, and provide honest feedback on your work.
YOUR MENTOR
"Street Photography for me is a combination of the art of observation and the science of composition, with a sprinkle of serendipity. It's a problem to solve, a jigsaw puzzle without a finished picture, and realtime theatre unfolding before your very eyes..."
— Polly Rusyn
Hey! I'm Polly. I'm the Boss at the Department of Street Photography and your personal street photography mentor I absolutely love both making and teaching street photography. I'm fascinated by the science behind how we observe and perceive the world as well as how composition works. My superpower it the ability to break down the 'what', 'why', and 'how' of street photography and explain ideas and concepts in such a way that you can apply them practically and develop your skills. I'm here to help you not only do that but also to develop your personal style and keep you motivated and inspired.
FIND OUT MORE ABOUT ME HEREProbably THE best street photography paid mentoring I have ever done. Her fee was absolutely worth every single penny. In advance, she had asked me to send her a small portfolio of my best work and we kicked-started the session with detailed feedback of the images I had sent her. She then had prepared exercises which worked precisely on (some of) my weaknesses (identifying the "unobvious" and the curious, consolidating separation and identifying multiple narratives in one frame). Her knowledge on the subject is absolutely insane and she is able to relay it in a way that I understand. I left the session absolutely buzzing, but more to the point, knowing exactly what I need to focus on. Whether you are a pro wedding / family photographer like me or an amateur who want to feel more in control of your image making on the streets, I really really really recommend Polly’s 1-2-1. I have since done 1 wedding, 2 family sessions and a couple of street sessions, and already seeing improvement. So satisfying!
